I cannot believe we’re already mid January. Is it just me or the older you get the faster time goes? It seems that when you’re a kid time goes by so slowly.. and now, woop! It’s mid January.
I’m a big goal setter. I love to have a plan and have all the steps laid out on how to execute it before jumping into something. So for me, there is nothing more exciting than a new year. I’m all for aiming high, but this year I gathered some ideas that have been hanging over me for the last few years. Things I’ve wanted to do that I hadn’t prioritized.
Read 50 books
There is something more motivating when you have a set goal in mind. I originally had this challenge set to 36 but started reading a little faster than anticipated so I put it up to 50!

Learn a song on my new ukulele
I’ve always dreamed of being able to play the ukulele. About a month ago I went out and decided to just purchase one and figure it out. While I’m getting a hang of the notes, learning to strum is proving to be a tad more difficult for me. Setting my challenge a little lower I decided to aim for one song, to be learned by March 1st.
Spanish Level 01
I love to learn new languages. Spanish has always been on my radar. I tried the whole duolingo thing but did not find it to be suited for me. I recently purchased a beginner Spanish book with a multitude of lessons with the end goal of being able to speak basic Spanish and hold a conversation. My goal is to finish this book for April 1st.
Do the splits
Quite disappointed by the fact that back in the cheerleading days the splits was a no brainer. Now, unfortunately, it’s just a memory of the past. I not only want to do this to get back to my flexibility level but to also take my yoga practice further with my arm balances. My end goal for this is February 1st .. which is quite ambitious but I’m ready to put in the work!
Run a half marathon
I love to run, and I think it’s every runners dream to be able to say they ran a marathon. While a marathon is a bit out of my reach right now, a half marathon at a good pace is definitely a can-do! I have a 15k race set for May and then the half marathon set for September (21.1k!)
I’ve made sure to set these goals apart, while having a due date every month of so on all goals to keep the motivation going. This also helps me prioritize each one the closer the deadline gets.
Wish me luck & Happy New Year!
