What a beautiful little vacay! My boyfriend recently got traded from Montreal to Denver so it’s been a bit of an adjustment. We’re Facetime pros by now and with his schedule and my work schedule it’s been a bit tricky at finding time to see each other. Thankfully we were able to make some time right for his birthday!
We got to celebrate the big 2-4 and spend some quality time together in my favorite place in the world, Colorado. There is seriously something magical about this beautiful place. The people, the organic food everywhere.. the calmness of the city surrounded by the most beautiful mountains and not to mention that 24 degree weather in late March.
I’m obsessed with Whole Foods so when my boyfriend would be at practice that’s where I would be. Stocking up on their juices and going through every single aisle… starstruck. God bless America. I’m so happy I finally got my hands on the RX protein bars! I’ve been dying to try these are they are just as good as what people are saying. Another product I’m obsessed with is the Health-Ade Kombucha. Such a good variety of flavors – and this one in particular was a great blend. Whole Foods also has their own line of juices and juice shots. I woke up and gave the tumeric juice shot a try and loved it. Spicy taste but a good little pick me up. Me and my boyfriend gave the coconut vinegar one a try and least to say it definitely needed a chaser, but you can definitely feel its benefits.
Dinner in Denver
Here are some of my favourite spots we got to try in Denver, Colorado.
GUARD AND GRACE
Chef Troy Guard – we went here on the first night and ordered the shrimps (huge) and the oak fried octopus as well as the lamb ravioli which was all to die for. So many different flavors that were combined so well and delicately together. My main dish was the Angus Filet Mignon and i was left in awe. Just way too good. If you are in Denver you cannot miss this place!!
This restaurant was located in a cute little area called Larimer Square. It’s a small section of a street (Larimer) and it’s filled with lights.. so beautiful and filled with the cutest restaurants and shops. We came here on the last night and celebrated Sven’s birthday one on one and it was just beautiful. The dishes were very unique and just delicious! They started us off with fresh bread… literally straight out of the over which was to die for. We then ordered the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli with Golden Oak mushrooms which is just as good as it sounds, as well as the Dynamite roll to start with. Yummmmmmy. As a main dish I had the lamb chops which I unfortunately did not get a chance to snap a pic since I was way too busy enjoying every last bite!
Where To Go
Cute little place to walk around.. very big space! I’d probably recommend going in the summer time where things might be a little more “alive” and less “dry” but it was nonetheless a very relaxing romantic walk. The indoor area with the tree house structures makes you feel like you’re in the jungle while the bonsai meditation gardens are very calming. Cute place to go with a loved one.
RED ROCKS PARK
This was by far my favorite place. Located about 30 min from Cherry Creek where we were the drive alone was very relaxing as you’re driving closer and closer to the mountains. So beyond beautiful there. Huge red rocks everywhere you look standing so tall above you. You can climb what felt like a million steps to get to the top which is the Red Rocks Amphitheater where concerts are held. I can’t even describe this place it’s like nothing I’ve seen before. If you’re in the area I would definitely recommend checking this out. Great little hike up and down. We ended this beautiful walk with a little picnic at the bottom. Such an amazing day.
